The Gucci GG1652/S 006 sunglasses are a striking piece of archival Italian eyewear, capturing the futuristic aesthetic that defined luxury fashion at the turn of the millennium.
*please note these sunglasses have slight shatters from the screw stress marking*
Dating from approximately the late 1990s to early 2000s, the design features oversized sculptural olive-tinted shield lenses, a dark smoke/gunmetal frame and sweeping wraparound temples. Minimal exposed hardware and delicate screw detailing give the glasses an almost industrial feel, contrasted by the oversized GUCCI lettering across the lens.
The original model reference GG 1652/S 006 and 115 mm temple measurement remain clearly marked on the inside arm.
Founded in Florence in 1921, Gucci became synonymous with a distinctly provocative form of Italian glamour during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Eyewear from this period is particularly sought after for its experimental proportions, tinted lenses and futuristic wraparound silhouettes, designs that have become increasingly relevant again with the revival of archival Y2K fashion.
The unusual combination of khaki-olive lenses, dark hardware and oversized lens branding makes this particular pair especially striking: unmistakably Gucci, but far removed from conventional logo sunglasses.
